Aurora Recycled Water Treatment Plant
Yarra Valley Water · Wollert, VIC
A new ten million litre a day Class A recycled water facility at Wollert, replacing an existing plant of around 2.9 million litres a day. It is driven by the Northern Growth Area, where more than 160,000 lots are expected to be developed over the next two decades. The same tender covered a membrane bioreactor upgrade of Healesville Sewage Treatment Plant, from 1.4 to 2.5 million litres a day.
Managed the environment and sustainability scope for John Holland on this successful tender. Regular client presentations, sustainability one-on-ones and environmental planning alongside them.
Pricing factored in Aboriginal cultural heritage, local council planning permits and EPA development licences, with an LCA carbon assessment built directly from the tender quantity schedule.

Belmont Desalination Plant
Hunter Water · Belmont, NSW
A seawater reverse osmosis plant adding 30 million litres a day of rainfall independent supply to the Lower Hunter region of NSW, around 15 percent of the region's average daily need. Scope covers the ocean intake structure, pre treatment, post treatment and integration with the existing potable distribution network.
Delivered the sustainability returnable for John Holland's bid, and priced the IS rating costings behind it.
Developed a strategy with the client that moved the head contract away from a blanket high IS rating, pricing in the specific initiatives and deliverables they actually wanted instead.

Hobsons Bay Main Sewer Duplication
Melbourne Water · Port Melbourne to Spotswood, VIC
The Hobsons Bay Main carries around 30 percent of Melbourne's wastewater to the Western Treatment Plant. First built in the 1960s, it is reaching the end of its service life. It runs under the Yarra between Westgate Park in Port Melbourne and Scienceworks in Spotswood, and a duplicate sewer is being built so flows can be diverted while the original is rehabilitated. Part of a broader Melbourne Water program on ageing sewers around the city.
Led environment and sustainability through delivery on this award-winning project: Australia's first independently verified net-zero Scope 1-3 major construction project, a 34% cut in embodied carbon and over 90% of construction waste diverted from landfill.
Delivered among highly sensitive neighbours, in the grounds of Scienceworks, a children's museum, a state park and the heritage-listed Spotswood Pumping Station.

Resource Recovery & Reuse Complex (RRRC)
Melbourne Water · Werribee, VIC
A major upgrade to the Western Treatment Plant at Werribee, introducing new preliminary and primary treatment, anaerobic digestion, tankered waste receiving, and liquid food waste co digestion for renewable energy generation. Fully operational by 2029.
Priced the environment and sustainability scope at tender for John Holland, wrote the management and approvals plans, and helped win the work.
Two years of delivery: ten-plus subcontracts across environment, waste and spoil, site setup, monthly reporting, and EPA and CHMP strategy. Three separate native vegetation removal permits and the CHMP delivered with no impact to program, under an EPA development licence exemption.

Snowy 2.0
Snowy Hydro · Talbingo, NSW
The pumped hydro expansion of the Snowy Hydroelectric Scheme: a giant battery that stores excess wind and solar and releases it when the grid needs it. Its 2,200 MW capacity is enough to power 3 million homes for a week, and its 350 GWh of storage is more than half of the 649 GWh the Australian Energy Market Operator says the National Electricity Market needs to reach net zero by 2050. Design life 150 years, complete at the end of 2028.
Implemented the Biodiversity Management Plan inside Kosciuszko National Park for Clough, managed approvals and pollution risk around sensitive waterways, and ran the ESDAT chemical database against Environment Protection Licence requirements.

Western Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation
Melbourne Water · Werribee, VIC
Trenchless rehabilitation of 4.4 kilometres of one of Melbourne's most critical sewer assets, which transfers 57 percent of the city's total annual wastewater flow. It uses slip lining with a 4.2 metre diameter pipe in live flow conditions, the largest diameter pipe rehabilitated by that method anywhere.
Delivered the tender and won it: eight months of environment and sustainability work. Secured three council planning permits and worked Melbourne Water's own approvals risk, across the CHMP, the Heritage Victoria permit and the Parks Victoria licence.
Over 1,500 tree mappings, ecology reporting and traffic management to allow work on the Princes Freeway, with local residents and the neighbouring zoo engaged to manage future noise and odour risk.

Melbourne Airport Third Runway
APAM · Tullamarine, VIC
A second parallel north south runway, with completion expected by 2031. Passenger numbers through Melbourne Airport are forecast to grow from 36 million in FY25 to around 76 million by 2042; the runway allows parallel operations, so arrivals and departures can happen at the same time rather than queueing on the ground and in the air.
Priced and quantified the large Scope 3 deliverable for APAM on this unsuccessful John Holland bid.
The life-cycle carbon assessment was built as an online, interactive submission, giving the client oversight not only of carbon but of the specific material choices and volumes behind it.

Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project
Victoria's Big Build · South Kensington to South Yarra, VIC
Twin nine kilometre bores running northwest to southeast of the CBD between South Kensington and South Yarra, with five new underground stations, linking the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines to the Sunbury line beneath Swanston Street and bypassing Flinders Street and the City Loop. Delivered under the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority. It carries communications based train control and platform screen doors, both a first for Melbourne, and brings heavy rail to the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct in Parkville and to the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Managed the field contamination testing across the entire 9km alignment for WSP and Bouygues Construction.
As environmental representative for the CBD stations: stakeholder liaison with the City of Melbourne, EPA Victoria, the universities and Heritage Victoria for planning approvals and community consultation, telemetered noise, air and dust monitoring across the CBD sites, and oversight of the largest archaeological heritage dig in the state's history.

North East Link
Victoria's Big Build · Watsonia to Bulleen, VIC
Three road projects delivered as one program: 6.5 kilometres of tunnel from Watsonia to Bulleen closing the gap in the city's freeway network, plus upgrades to the Eastern Freeway and the M80 Ring Road with new lanes, smart technology and a connection into the tunnels. The tunnels are expected to take 15,000 trucks a day off local roads and cut travel times by up to 35 minutes. Opening 2028.
Priced the IS v2.1 sustainability rating for the Eastern Package for John Holland, and advised the client on how achievable a conservative IS rating really was.
The work set out the commercial exposure the project carried from a sustainability lens. The bid was ultimately successful, and the IS v2.1 requirement was eventually dropped.

Suburban Rail Loop
Victoria's Big Build · Cheltenham to Box Hill, VIC
SRL East, the first stage, is a fully tunnelled 26 kilometre metro corridor from Cheltenham in the south to Box Hill in the north, with six stations: new interchanges with the existing heavy rail stations at Cheltenham, Clayton, Glen Waverley and Box Hill, and new stations at Monash and Burwood. The Suburban Rail Loop Authority has split SRL East into seven packages; Works Package F covers station building works at Glen Waverley, Burwood and Box Hill, the station box excavation and temporary restraining structures at Box Hill, the surface work at station precincts, and all remaining station work outside Works Package G.
Early project support on Packages F and G, seconded in for project setup after the win.
Developed the early strategy for tree management, heritage management and permit applications, and the early-works contracts covering site setup, ecology, arboriculture, contamination and noise management.
